This is a spiritual sequel to the 2019 film Pati Patni Aur Woh but with a completely new cast. Instead of the usual love triangle, this one throws in two other women which means double the trouble and double the confusion. The trailer promised a loud chaotic comedy set in North India with plenty of misunderstandings. But does it actually make you laugh or does it just give you a headache? Let me break it down for you simply.

Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Movie Cast and Crew
The whole film basically rests on Ayushmann Khurrana’s shoulders. He plays Prajapati Pandey, a forest officer who is innocent, well-meaning, and constantly stuck in situations he never asked for. Ayushmann is in his comfort zone here. He does what he does best which is playing the confused middle-class man who is a victim of his own lies. But at times he pushes it a bit too far and the performance becomes exhausting rather than funny. Still, he is the main reason most people will sit through the film.
Wamiqa Gabbi plays Aparna, Praja’s wife who is a sharp journalist. She brings a certain energy to the screen but the script does not give her enough room to shine. Sara Ali Khan plays Chanchal, the old friend from Benaras who gets Praja into this mess in the first place. Rakul Preet Singh plays Nilofer, Praja’s colleague and Aparna’s friend who also gets dragged into the confusion. The three leading ladies have natural screen presence but the writing lets them down. Vijay Raaz plays Dharamveer Singh and Tigmanshu Dhulia plays the politician Gajraj Tiwari. Both are solid actors but they feel underutilized. Ayesha Raza Mishra plays Bua Ji and adds some family flavor. Vishal Vashishtha plays Sunny Tiwari, the politician’s son. Behind the camera, Mudassar Aziz directs and writes. The music is composed by a big team including Rajesh Roshan, Rochak Kohli, Tanishk Bagchi, Tony Kakkar, Badshah and others.

Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Movie Storyline
Prajapati Pandey lives a simple life in Prayagraj with his wife Aparna. Everything is normal until Aparna, who is a journalist, reports that politician Gajraj Tiwari’s son Sunny is dating a Muslim girl. Photos show the girl wearing a hijab. This causes a mini scandal. What Aparna does not know is that the girl is actually Chanchal, an old friend of Praja from Benaras. Chanchal only wore the hijab to hide her identity from goons. Feeling guilty that his wife’s report caused this mess, Praja decides to help Chanchal. He lies to Aparna about going to Kanpur for work and instead shows up with Chanchal at public places in Benaras pretending to be her boyfriend. Gajraj’s goons photograph them together but are not fully convinced. So Chanchal forces Praja to check into a cheap hotel posing as lovers. The hotel gets raided by police and everyone with fake identities is arrested.
In Prayagraj, Nilofer gets a distress call from Praja asking her to bail him out. She agrees but threatens to tell Aparna about his so called infidelity. Praja chases Nilofer to explain the truth but Aparna spots them together in Benaras and becomes convinced that her husband is cheating. Back home, Praja is assigned to capture a wild wolf in Benaras. He goes there with Nilofer and his team and makes one final public appearance with Chanchal at a family wedding where he announces their engagement. Sunny hears this news, kidnaps Praja to interrogate him, but the goons catch them in a compromising situation and assume both men are gay. Gajraj now believes Praja was the secret hijab wearing girl all along. The chaos keeps spiraling until everything explodes in the climax.
Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Movie Budget
This film was not made on a massive budget and it does not pretend to be a big spectacle. It is a mid-sized commercial comedy that keeps production costs under control by focusing on dialogue and performances rather than lavish sets or heavy visual effects. The films has an estimated budget is around ₹50–60 crore. The shooting took place across North India, including a major schedule in Prayagraj. The film faced a brief disruption during outdoor shooting when the crew clashed with local residents but production continued smoothly after that.
The box office numbers have been decent considering the mixed critical reception. The film collected over nine crore rupees on its second day alone, according to reports. With Netflix already holding the digital streaming rights and the film premiering on the platform from July 10 2026, the revenue streams are well covered. For a film made on a moderate budget, this should end up being a comfortable commercial venture for the producers.
Final Word
Pati Patni Aur Woh Do opened on 15 May 2026 and the honest verdict is this. The first half has some genuinely funny moments and Ayushmann Khurrana carries the chaos with his usual charm, but the second half becomes too loud, too forced, and too long for its own good. The comedy feels dated, the misunderstandings become repetitive, and the background score keeps shouting at you to laugh. It is a decent one-time watch if you are in the mood for mindless entertainment and some nostalgic music, but do not expect the sharp wit of Mudassar Aziz’s earlier films.
