Oh..! Sukumari hit theatres in July 2026, and people can’t stop talking about it. This Telugu rural dramedy is directed by Bharat Dharshan and showcases Thiruveer and Aishwarya Rajesh. The film is about a young man with a dream to become a big man, who falls for a woman named Sukumari, but her father has a secret which can bring everything crashing down.
The freedom and the unusual idea this film has is what makes it stand out. It has a new slam dunk and solid acting, according to critics, but some don’t feel it’s quite as it promised. Some reviewers enjoyed the humor and heart; others felt there were parts that were outdated. No matter what your opinion is, there is plenty to consider after watching this film.

Oh..! Sukumari Release Date
“Oh..! Sukumari’ debuted in theatres globally on 17th July 2026. It was the second film under the banner of Gangaa Entertainments produced by Maheshwara Reddy Mooli and directed by debut director Bharat Dharshan.
The theatrical release failed to move a lot of tickets and so the producers rushed to get it into the stream. The film was released on Amazon Prime Video just 3 weeks later on August 7, 2026. It comes in four languages (Telugu, Tamil, Kannada and Malayalam) to cater to audiences in the South Indian states who can watch in their preferred language.
This is a common trend for mid-budget Telugu movie that don’t do well in the theatres.
Oh..! Sukumari Cast And Crew
The movie is based on two lead performances. Thiruveer is the character of Yadagiri, a politically-minded young man who is seeking love and power. Aishwarya Rajesh will portray Damini, Sukumari, the woman who turns his world upside down. The rural plot around the central story is bolstered by the presence of Jhansi, Muralidhar Goud, Aamani, Srinivas Gavireddy, Kranthi Balivada and Kota Jayaram.
Bharat Dharshan has written and directed this film, as he has two hats behind the camera. The cinematographer, CH Kushendar, has captured the village atmosphere of Telangana while the editor, Sree Varaprasad, has adjusted the tempo of the film. Music composer Bharath Manchiraju has taken care of the songs and background score while Thirumala M. Thirupathi has worked on production design, which brings the rural background to life.
The rest of the equipment roundoff includes a few more names. The dance scenes were choreographed by JD Master, the costumes were designed by Anureddy Akkati and the action scenes were directed by Wing Chun Anji. Visual effects were done by Gravity VFX and Krishna Kishore was the chief co-director who assisted Bharat Dharshan during the film’s making.
Businesswise, Maheshwara Reddy Mooli was the filmmaker and Gangaa Entertainments was the production house of the film, while Santhoshi and Shabarish were also the co-producers. Aditya Music has the audio rights, Haashtag Media has the marketing rights and Ideal Dots has created the publicity materials. For a first-time director, it’s a relatively big bunch of people that’s supporting her.
Oh..! Sukumari Storylines and Plot
The narrative unfolds in a village of Telangana and is a tale of an ordinary young man named Yadagiri with big political aspirations. His plans go awry when he encounters a vibrant and kind woman known by everyone as Sukumari, but proper name is Damini. Yadagiri is captivated by her, and what begins as an attraction becomes a love as its progression is unnoticed.
Things take a turn for the worse for the couple when the movie introduces its central twist: Damini’s father is keeping a secret, and it’s one that could potentially ruin the couple’s relationship. This secret is not a family secret, but too much of it won’t be disclosed here. It throws him back to his childhood, and makes him question his political aspirations and his newly-found attraction to Damini.
The movie has a romantic undertone with a rural comedy element which tries to balance the emotional tension and lighter moments. But the film also has a bit of the supernatural in it, something that some critics noted as being the most original part, though it didn’t always get the best of its critics.
It’s essentially a coming of age love story set in a village, where family secrets and personal ambition are tugging at the different strings of the main characters. The latter half of the film is spent when Yadagiri decides to go into politics, love, or a mixture of the two. The formula is well-known, but Damini’s secret with respect to her identity makes it more interesting than a standard country love story.
Oh..! Sukumari Budget & Box Office Collection
“Oh..! Actually, “Sukumari” was a film that was made on a small budget, which is estimated to be between ₹2 and ₹3 crore which is a small village-dramedy without the big names or the heavy production cost. That was a modest budget as is befitting its scale, but it failed to resonate with theatre audiences following its release on July 17, 2026.
Despite its weak box office performances, collections were in the range of ₹2.27 crore to ₹2.64 crore for its entire run. That’s not a bad thing for a film with a modest budget, but it’s no great success either. The poor theatrical reception was probably the impetus behind the swift transition to streaming, which took place by August 7, 2026, three weeks after arriving in cinema halls.
Final Word
Oh..! Sukumari is not a film that comes across as reinventing rural romance, but that isn’t a requirement for it. It’s successful due to its weird and original premise and the genuine approach taken by Thiruveer and Aishwarya Rajesh. Wobbles a bit here and there, not everything is a joke, but it’s worth watching for its purpose of redemption. If you like your small town dramas with a tinge of comedy, try it on Prime Video.
